How many cloud concepts are really efficient? The migration of applications is quickly becoming the bottomless pit, and the capacity provided is used often far from optimal. A consistent resource-based model avoids these problems.
18 percent are actually not much. So the proportion of companies that were afraid in the Future of Cloud Computing Survey 2014 of the US VC firm Northbridge before incalculable cost of migration was. but 18 percent are much when the value has tripled since the first survey 2011th In other words, the cost argument against the introduction into the cloud is clearly on the rise. We see this trend confirmed in daily contact with our customers. to make applications and processes for the cloud fit, turns out in many places as (too) high hurdle, with also joined the frequent lack of technical know-how to the question of cost.
Some of the cloud providers are not entirely to blame for the negative experiences, because they make it to their customers often quite heavy. “You want our infrastructure – so you have to adapt to you,” is the motto. Have established individual applications and processes in the company over a long period, the established structures can not even just in passing transfer to the cloud. At worst, you have to develop new things complete, and whether this effort will ever compensated by the promises of the cloud, is a question that can be discussed and rightly so.
The new cloud currency: Resources
Cloud providers would be well advised to rethink, because the other way around should move towards the customers: “You keep your applications – we provide a frame that fits in any case.” This framework can best be achieved in a cloud model that “thinks” in resources instead of servers. This means that the current cloud offerings revolve usually preconfigured server packages that you rent in a particular number and may increase due to a rise demand.
The disadvantages of this model show over time in daily operation. Does the application running on the same server, more power is necessary to add a new server. Technically this is possible relatively easily via cloning. Problematic, but it is when the extra power is needed only briefly or for a limited period. Then you pay for capacity that is not adequately exploited. The less it is worth, this procedure if capacity on the other servers in the cloud still available, but it is in the “wrong” applications. In short: Conventional cloud strategies can open many wishes for efficiency and flexibility.
Customers can use computing and storage capacity as needed to provision and independently via a web portal and manage. Virtual servers and applications are to be run in this way safely in the cloud, without the user having to take yourself to the physical infrastructure such as servers, storage or network.
Complete cloud offering
“With the new IaaS services, we are one of the few cloud providers that offer a full range of IT services from the cloud,” says Maximilian Merkl, CEO of Merkl IT. With the Dynamic Data Center, the company can guarantee its customers maximum service. “Another plus point is that we are in close proximity to customers and ever ready ideal solution as needed,” added the CEO. Thus the portfolio teach not only large companies but also to small and medium-sized businesses who want a special all-round support.
In the coming months Merkl IT is looking to expand the IaaS portfolio. So additional functions to be integrated, among other things, increase the availability and security of customer data and applications.
